IRS chief asks inspector general to review Comey and McCabe audits

The head of the IRS asked a Treasury inspector typical to look into right after information broke Wednesday that the agency performed intense audits into former FBI Director James Comey and previous FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s taxes.

Comey was also contacted by CNN for comment.
Comey and McCabe garnered national attention right after their involvement in a probe into the Trump campaign and Russian interference in the 2016 election, which the former president has derided as a witch hunt.
The two were also frequent targets of previous President Trump’s criticism Comey was fired by Trump in 2017, and McCabe, who following served as the performing director of the FBI, was fired by the administration the future 12 months.
