La. Medicaid expands dental coverage for adults with disabilities

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — Louisiana Medicaid has expanded their in depth dental care to adults ages 21 and up with intellectual or developmental disabilities who are enrolled in the New Alternatives Waiver, Household Solutions Waiver or the Supports Waiver.
Much more than 12,000 people today will have access to the new dental protection commencing July 1.
The new protection features:
- diagnostic services

- restorative solutions
- endodontics
- periodontics
- prosthodontics
- oral and maxillofacial surgery
- orthodontics
- emergency treatment
“Oral overall health is vital to our total well being, shaping our actual physical and mental properly-being at every single age. This growth of protection will increase the overall health and well-remaining of Louisianans with mental or developmental disabilities by providing plan and preventive dental treatment,” claimed LDH Secretary Dr. Courtney Phillips. “Providing in depth dental solutions for those who are enrolled in the New Opportunities Waiver, Residential Selections Waiver or the Supports Waiver will enable individuals maintain fantastic oral health and fitness and protect against severe well being concerns in the upcoming.”
Governor John Bel Edwards signed the Act 450 invoice into regulation in Louisiana that created the new coverage attainable.
